Hey, sorry it's been so long since my last blog, but I've been quite busy here in Melbourne. I've been in Melbourne for 3 weeks now and having such a good time.
It was about 10am when I first arrived here and I went into my room and everyone was asleep so I decided to dump my bags and go for a wander around the area, St Kilda. I later came to my room and had a nap because I hadn't slept the night before because my flight was at 5.15am and I had to leave my hostel from Auckland at 3.15, so therefore no sleep. When I woke up later in my room I met my roomates, 2 girls from England, a girl called Nicole from Western Australia and Santi, originally from Argentina and now from England. I got talking to Santi and he told me about his job, which is working as a sales rep for australian farmers trying to get people to sign up for a free delivery of the food to their doorstep. I thought great, I don't need to look for a bar job and I was told that I could make up to about $200 a day, which is just under 100 quid.
That night I went to a party with Santi and met some of his work friends. Got on really well with them and most of them live in my hostel as well. Since then I haven't done much touristy things but I am going to the Victoria Markets today. I earned quite a bit of money this week from working as a "Milklady", that's what the job title is, working for Aussie Farmers Direct, so I am going to spend a bit of it this week. I don't start work until 12.45pm where we have to go to the office, then we go out to get lunch and we don't start working until about 3.30/4pm and finish at about 8.30pm. By the time I get home I'm quite tired and so my only tiem to actually do anything is the weekend.
Yesterday it was Bryan's (a guy from work) brother's birthday and we went to the beach and had drinks and a bbq. The weather was so nice, although I missed most of it because I slept in until about 1pm. Today the weather is about 20 degrees with some clouds, I think this is summer beginning.
Sorry I haven't been in contact with many people, but I will try harder. I will be in Melbourne for another 3 weeks or just under and then I'm moving on to Sydney to start the Oz Experience and travel up the east coast. Harriet told me it's only another 7 weeks until I'm home, can't believe I've been away for so long already and just a couple of months left. Looking forward to seeing everyone at home though.
Keep in contact everyone and send my messages if you get bored.
Love Jen xx
