Where has January gone??
Hello again all my fellow friends! Ive just read over my last blog to see what I said my next steps would be! Well, i never did make it onto help on surf camp. The bus was full and I didnt feel time would be well spent holding on waiting for a space in their busy month plus my heart was missing Byron so i hopped on another over nite bus (totally not as pleasant this time!) and found myself back where I love so much. I surprised lots of ppl who didnt think id be back to see them off! I have now been back nearly 3 weeks i think and found myself spending time with old and new friends!
The weather unfortunately has been a bit challenging and Saturday I had to miss the pool party for australia day (a poor attempt at St Paddys day!) to mop out my soggy tent! All sorted now, clothes are dry and tent mopped out (altho someone did walk off with my bed sheet off the washing line, cant leave anything for a minute!). Ive got some really good friends here that have looked after me this week as i picked up a sore throat, then a cold n cough and sleeping in my damp tent didnt help! So Annabel and Sal sneaked me up to their staff accomodation-a proper bed in a place u can stand up in! Amazing!Sun has been shining all day tho, so hoping the weather stays!
I had a fab time meeting up with Helen and Kenny (friends with my Scottish friends from Sydney) and they joined me for a combined effort at stir fry last week. I showed them around the Arts Factory and we then enjoyed drinks at the Buddha bar watching the fire show! The nite couldnt be complete with out doing the infamous pie run on the night bus!! My first pie-SOOO amazingly tasty!
I am working for my accomodation again, this time doing some cleaning for the on site bar. Kinda handy as they also give me 3 shifts a weeks waitressing for cash in hand plus free food! I am eating like a king on the days i work, salmon/steak with salad/veg! SOOOOOO good! There is a craze of lentil soup going round the hostel started off by Canadian Terri (actually tastes amazing). Rollie made a fab batch with sausage in yesterday and think its my turn to try and impress tomorrow...mmmm!! Also got a good deal with Annabel who is going to cut and colour my hair (she is v.good!) in return for a full body massage. For those of u who dont no, i did a course here couple of weeks ago, so getting some cash in hand giving head/shoulder and back massages. Really enjoying it!
Thats all my news from here! Think I may head up the Coast soon as weather improving. It will be great to get on the road again and sleep in proper beds but so sad to leave Byron. It is so special here. Just walking around you feel so relaxed. Hope everyone is well. I am now going to be home earlier than predicted from my last blog as my sister Mel has moved her wedding forward to the original date of September 7th! So ill be seeing everyone again soon which is scary but awesome! Love to u all. Stay in touch. x
