Aunt Julie Well Ian! It sounds like quite the experience and very worthwhile. Anita is correct in stating you never fail to deliver. Compile all of your blogs and this would make quite the interesting book about the experience of going away to teacher's college. Im very happy that you seem to have found your niche and have embraced all that this life adventure is teaching you. I hope that your next PRAC is just as rewarding. Take Care and it was good to see you the other day on SKYPE. Six months are going to fly by!
Dan Hey Ian! Well we gave you a hard time about an update, but we can't complain when its like what you just delivered. In any case this blog especially excited me since I just last night got accepted to Charles Sturt's primary education program, now I won't be going down under, but rather just slightly east to Burlington for my studies, but just reading about your prac, only excites me more for the opportunities ahead! Keep writing and I'll keep reading! Cheers!

Aunt Julie Well Ian it sounds like you are making the most of Australia! Since I'm not sure if I will ever visit I'm enjoying your interesting take on life Down Under. Your placement does sound interesting and I'm sure you will enjoy every minute. I know you had on your list to enjoy a game of 'footy' and it sounds like you did. The size of the crowd reminds me of when I went to an NFL game where the crowds are huge. Keep updating Ian we are throughly enjoying your stories of the people and places in Australia! Best of Luck on your Prac.
Anita The girls are going to love "your accent!" Life is for learning and seems to me that you are embracing it. I especially liked your Captain Cook story. Happy ANZAC day! Have you tried ANZAC COOKIES? (not the computer variety)
Aunt Nancy Hi Ian! Enjoying your blogs! Sorry that I didn't respond to your thanks for the birthday gift -- you're welcome! Good luck on your practicum. You and Paul start something new the same day! He's looking forward to his internship at Queen's Park and is hoping it will lead to bigger and better things in the future. Uncle Jim and I were with him in TO yesterday to help him buy some "work" clothes. He got a suit, a sports jacket and two pairs of pants, plus a shirt, tie and dress socks -- so he's all set. Laura has been very sick. She contracted pneumonia on April 6 and is still recovering. It was very stressful for a while because she was so sick, her immune system being depressed from the chemo, but she is getting better every day and yesterday went to dinner and a movie with Robin. Enjoy your prac (all girls, hmmm?) and keep blogging!

Aunt Julie HAPPY EASTER IAN! I'm a day late but better late than never. Hope to talk to you today. Another intersting read Ian and being not well informed about Australia other than the obvious I enjoy learning about life there. I know you enjoy the cooler weather but thank god its warmer here and we are just hopefully entering into what is supposed to be a warm summer! So how low does the temperature get where you are? I may be wrong but there trees don't lose their leaves do they? Take care and talk to you soon.Have fun teaching!
leslie Completely off topic and random request- please try a didgeridoo for me and let me know how that goes... also, seen any big bugs yet? That would send me packing in a heartbeat! Happy holidays!
Aunt Julie Hey Ian, Another good read! Although I am a bit behind thats Holidays for you. We did go away but we are now back to reality. Glad to see you are making the most of your time in Australia. I think it would be very interesting to take a train ride across the countryside but I'm with everyone on this some kind of bed would be a must for me as well. Always thought I would love to go on something like the Orient Express. Better put that on my bucket list! Summer is almost over and soon you will be home. School just starting for everyone and you will be finished. Thanks for the postcard. You are right Christmas will be Merry indeed! Good Luck Ian you're now in the HOME STRETCH! See you in about 11 to 12 weeks!
re: Sydney, New South WalesSimon Hi Ian! Just checked out your blogs which are incredibly well worded and wanted to wish you luck on your future application to teach in London! I am blown away at the tabs you have been keeping on photocopies, glue sticks, pens and whatnot.
re: Melbourne, VictoriaAunt Nancy Glad that you had the opportunity to see more of Australia. Have you read Bill Bryson's book on Australia (In a Sunburned Country)? Your photos of large expanses of nothing reminded me of his descriptions in the book. Hope that second semester is as good as the first!
re: Sydney, New South WalesAnita Consider the lack of sleeper cabin "character building"...how else could you have met those interesting people? Canada Day downunder style, eh? Glad to hear you took part in it! Have you discovered Kangaroo Stir Fry yet? Less methane to consider when you crave red meat! Good luck with 2nd semester!
re: Sydney, New South WalesDan I have to agree with your mom, train trips always give you the best opportunity to see all that can be seen on the way to your desitination, but expensive or no, a sleeper car would be mandatory for me. Glad to hear your still enjoying yourself, ironicaly when you start your second semester I'll be starting my first. In any case it hardly feels like you've been gone that long, and its hard to beleive you'll be back in 4 months. Good luck with the second round of prac etc!
re: Sydney, New South WalesMom Glad you had a great trip. No better way to see a country as large as Australia than by rail but i would definitely need a sleeper cabin!

re: Melbourne, VictoriaAnita WOW! Did you deliver! So glad I asked for an update. What will you do now? It was good to see you (virtually) attend your grandmother's birthday party. She looks terrific at 80! Enjoy your time off.
re: Melbourne, VictoriaMom I love your typical day and your 20 day summary. If you accomplished all this in only 20 days, imagine a year!. If the pencils were the ones with the Canadian flag, I am surprised you got so many back. Enjoy your break now, you deserve it!
re: Melbourne, VictoriaDad Welcome to the world of teaching! I think you had a typical month. There are great challenges and great rewards.
