After our night out in Surfers Paradise, we were all feeling rather hung over on the 14th. Scott had re-booked his skydive for the day, and had to leave at 6:30am. I was bearly able to see straight when he left, and really regretted drinking the night previous as I wanted to see him do his skydive.
It was not till 10:30 before myself, Lauren, Stu and Jess were able to go out and explore Surfers Paradise, though it was worth the effort. We wandered into the centre and Lauren spotted a sushi place where everyone could grab some breakfast. After selecting their meal, we all walked to the sea front where the cityscape proved impressive.
We had sushi on the steps of the beach, before deciding that finally, as the sun was out and didnt look like it was going to disappear, today would be a great day to have a BBQ on the beach! I remembered that my friend Abi had mentioned that all along Queensland there are public BBQ's for use, and so whilst Stu and Jess chilled on the beach, me and Lauren walked up the promenade in search of a BBQ.
It was not long before we found one, and headed back to meet up with the guys again. The sun was really coming down, and finally, it was top-off time at the beach. Stu had started building a sandcastle when I returned, and ofc, I was definitely in for helping. The motto of the day - 'It needs to be bigger!'.
We spent most of the day relaxing on the beach, before deciding it was time to start the BBQ. Lauren and Jess went off to fetch the food, and then myself and Stu cooked a selection of burgers, sausages and chicken by the beach in the sunshine. It was great!
In order to save money, Lauren and Jess had bought enough food for breakfast the next morning, and so after filling up ourselves, we took the remaining food back to the hostel to cook. When we arrived Scott was waiting in the hostel. His skydive had gone ahead in Byron bay, though not only was it delayed but he was also delayed leaving Byron. Still he seemed to have loved the experience.
I suggested that we go out and scout some good photo locations in the evening. Scott was more than up for it, and at 9pm we set off. Surfers Paradise is spectacular at night, but it took us till 11:30pm before we found the killer spot. It was a thorougly enjoyable evening exploring and chatting, and before we knew it we had to head back and crash out.
