Around The World Adventure
January 2, 2008. Had a tour of Cuzco, Peru this morning. We went to the Inca ruins of Qorikancha. It was once the richest temple in the Inca empire but only the Incan stonework foundation remain. The Santo Domingo church has been built over the top. The Incan stonework was stunning. The angles were so precise. The used no mortar yet you can't slip a piece of paper through any of the stones because they are so tightly fit together. We also went to Saqsaywaman (pronounced "sexy woman"). It was a huge Incan fortress on top of one of the hills overlooking Cuzco. The stones used to make the base still remain and were huge. One weighed over 300 tons. We also got to take this great picture titled "McGees, Llamas, and Me!"
