We travelled on around the Coromandel peninsular staying at a place called Hahei. Met a nice couple one evening whilst having a drink at a bar who invited us to have coffee with them at their house, typical kiwi hospitality and a great evening.
Visited a beach one evening at low tide where there are hot springs under the sand. There were loads of people digging out pools and then bathing in the hot water. In some places the water was extremely hot, enough to burn your feet. Ian dug a bath for Linda who then decided she was not keen to get in, plenty of other girls got in though!
We have been to Rotorua and visited the volcanic pools, amazing to see boiling mud although the smell is something else. Some incredible geysers and silica deposits of all colours.
We are now in a B&B looking over lake Taupo towards the snow capped mountains. Hope to do some walking tomorrow in the national park.
TV still majoring on the earthquake in Christchurch, we will be reviewing our plans on Tuesday. The way in which the City is getting to grips with the problems is amazing, the mayor would put all our politicians to shame. He fronts up news reports and is an incredible guy showing a complete understanding of the residents feelings and concerns.
