WUT? I have always been a little frightened of snorkeling because of the baracudas & all the other unknowns that can easily pop out of the fun hiding places that reef has to offer. BUT, yesterday, I took the plunge (with the help of some friends) and decided I could take the risk. I'm so glad I did! It opened my eyes to a whole new world I had never even started to explore. It was beautiful! Still a little daunting, but beautiful. How easy it has been to forget the sea life that lives just beyond eyes sight - that crystal blue water I have been in awe of from above. Do you know it took me two weeks to get in and explore those lives?! RIDICULOUS! Granted, I've been busy, but it's no excuse.
I think I do that a lot in life. It takes too much effort to "break the water", to jump in and have a new experience. It's SO much easier to keep on doin' what you're doin' and let everything else go without notice. Well, I'm going to start making an intentional effort to look beyond my eyes sight, to take a bit of a risk (even if I need some help), and to discover the worlds that live outside my everyday. THAT is my New Year's goal . . . besides my thesis, of course. :)
