Greetings after a few very busy days! I hit the ground running yesterday and didn't stop until I'd covered most of the Scottish Highlands. The first big exploration of the day was Loch Ness and Ft. Agustus. After that we headed down towards Glen Coe. Glen Coe was beautiful and we had a huge amount of time to hike through the passes. After a little hiking we had another whisky tasting. Did you know that Whisky can only be called "scotch" if it is brewed in Scottland and not exported. Any scotch whiske outside scottland is just whisky. Whisky in Scottland is spelled whiske by the way. I learned a lot yesterday. We saw the castle from Monty Python and also saw the train and station from Harry Potter. It was a really brilliant time. We also some incredibly bizarre cows. Highland cows have no fat on them, but loads of hair. I took lots of amazing pictures that you will once again have to be patient waiting for. From now on I should travel with my old laptop.
I had a truly geeky day today. I started by seeing the Scott memorial which is dedicated to Sir Walter Scott and his many characters. At this point I need to stop and thank Krista for making me read Ivanhoe on our last trip. After my morning fill of literature, I headed over to Greyfriars cemetary for an unsuccessful look at the grave of James Hutton (I tried). Also for those of you who know me well, this James Hutton is the father of modern geology, not the ex-lover of Freddie Mercury. After that unsuccessful attemp I went down and stared through the gate at Holyrood Palace. It is closed because Prince Charles is on holiday here right now. I then spent a large portion of the afternoon seeing Arthur's seat and climbing Salisbury Crag. That crag is where Hutton did a great deal of his groundbreaking research. I ended the day by going to the Science Discovery center. They had a brilliant interactive museum on biomes and the geological history of Earth. I was the only person there without children, but I had fun!! Tonight I need a hot shower and some rest. I have another full day planned tomorrow!
Hope all is well at home.
Love,
Jennifer

Auntie Junie Great report!!!! Did you see any kilts? Love men in kilts! Did you hear any bagpipes? Your Gr. Goodman used to cry anytime she heard a bagpipe. She never knew why.
Jennifer I heard tons of bagpipes. There are men in kilts playing them on practically every corner. I danced with a man in a kilt at the pub last night. Although I'm not sure I should admit that one, lol.
karen Did you watch the video on hoosiertimes.com that I sent you? We had a guy playing bagpipes at Fairview on the last day of school.
Jennifer I did watch the video it was really cool! I appreciate you sending it my way!
Auntie Junie Only wish you had a picture of that! I know they do a jig in Ireland, what kind of dancing were you doing with the kilt?
