Hey!
Mendoza was amazing! What a beautiful city! It was really livable and there were some great people! All the streets were lined with big trees, and there were plenty of squares and huge parks. We really loved it. We were in two different hostels, and each were pretty awesome and full of really fun staff and people.
One of the days were were there we hopped on a local bus out of the city, and rented bikes all day for dirt cheep to tour the countryside and vineyards, since it is the wine capital of Argentina. Absolutely stunning, looked like teh south of France. Stunning.
Another day we rode about an hour out the city to the moutain hot springs... up to 20 different pools of varrying warmth carved into the moutains. SO COOL! We stayed there all day, and it was really fun because it wasnt touristy, it was all Argenitne families, and we spent like hours there rotating pools and looking up at teh beautiful mountains. Paradise. And our skin and hair felt soo nice afterweards. The water was really nice.
We left Mendoza after about 6 days, and bused to a sleepy little town in the moutains on the way to Chile called Uspallata which was really beautiful, and then took the bus through the Andes to Santiago, Chile. Such a beautiful bus ride, though we thought we were going to topple over the cliffs with each turn... little scary ah ha. The border crossing was right at the top of the moutians, and we got out and all around us was snowy peaks... what a good welcome into Chile!
So far this is our first day in Santiago, and we absolutely love it! Surrounded by the Andes, its a beautiful, clean and really livable city that has a European feel and nice vibes. We are staying with family friends, which is really nice! Finally can do some laundry and be in a home! Weve been walking around all day, cant get over the beauty of the city. We discovered probably the most amazing park we have ever seen that looks right out of a Isabel Allende of Marquez book. We were in awe the whole time.
We have about a week here, but are planning on spending 2 days in Valparaiso which is apparently a magical seaside town and home to Pablo Nerudas houses which well go see. And then its off to work on a farm! yayyy!
love scoshy and emy
