hey all!
so right now were back in good old buenos aires! after the treking in patagonia we headed to the bottom of the continent, ushuaia in argentina. that is the picture you see above, though we didnt quite see sunsets that spectacular.
we stayed in a great hostel that was full of people and had awesome staff. we took the 5 days we had there to sleep off the trek and to swim in the scotia sea (well i did and it was beyond freezing and everyone made fun of me).
ushuaia was a nice town and there happened to be a street festival happening while we were there which was cool. we walked around a lot and chilled with our freinds and one morning, after neitehr of us could sleep, we took our cookies and went down to the waterfront at 4 am to watch the sunrise over the ocean and harbor for a few hours and it was wonderful.
being in ushuaia made us quite jealous, as many people we met were boud for ships to antarctica, and it is much too expensive for us to even consider. one day maybe. if we can work our way one he he.
we made good freinds with the staff at the hostel, some of which were circus like performers and would put on shows for us which was downright hillarious. i learned how to ride this rediculous mini bicycle one night, and they let the two of us draw a mural on any of the blank hostel walls we weanted. we couldnt believe it, we were so excited and it was definately a highlight. ha ha.
right now were back in buenos aires and are leaving this morning. we got here 5 days ago and are back in our old neighborhood which is great. the first night we went out to get foood in the square and there were big drum circles and live tango and singning and bands and sparkly which and yellow lights and people and dancing everywhere. it was wonderful, people are really embracing summer here and every night and day poeple just enjoy being out and about outside.
it is absolutely boiiling though, 36 and sunny every day and barely anywhere has aircondidtion. the subway is particularly deathly and we now are begining to understand the absolute neeeeddd for siestas.
a few nights ago we met up with a bunch of our old friends who are still here and we all went out for a big steak dinner which was awesome of cource.
anyways, lots of people in line for the hostel comp,
but love you all and will be on a flight home in a few hours!
love
S
