Helen's Travels
We began our trip down the east coast with our first stop at Airlie Beach for a day before we went on our trip to the Whitsundays.
At Airlie Beach, Jenny and I decided to do a skydive over the Whitsundays. We did the dive from 10000 feet. After a little bit of training and a lot of waiting while the weather cleared we were ushered into the tiny little plane and were on our way up. Jenny went first and she was out within a split second, as was I! You put your feet out and before you knew it the guy strapped to you has pushed you out! After the initial shock that I was falling, I began to enjoy it and it was amazing. The freefall was definitely the best bit of it! As I the chute went up, I just wanted to do it again! The parachute down was good fun though and my guy let me control it a bit (whilst he was still holding on)! The view was really good over the Whitsundays. The whole experience was definitely worth it and not as scary as you'd expect, the DVD kind of shows otherwise though!
The next day we went on our Whitsunday trip on a 75 foot Maxi Yacht. The trip was really good fun, we got the opportunity to snorkel and went to all the major places. We didn't have that much luck with the weather though - we were stood on Whitehaven Beach (the prettiest beach with sand that has the highest silicon content in the world), in lovely yellow anoraks, it wasn't quite what we had in mind! On our trip I had the chance to helm which was really good, and whilst I was a family of dolphins swam along the side of us! We also saw an eagle fly down next to the boat to pick some food up from the water, it was very impressive.
The middle day of our trip at the Whitsundays was Jenny's birthday so we celebrated that in style on the boat. We played so many games (involving little or no movement given the space on the boat) and had an amazing time! Next time we need a party game Jenny and I have loads, as long as you have a snorkel and toilet roll handy!
The Whitsunday trip was over far too quickly, amazing how 3 days flies by! We spent the next day just sunbathing by the lagoon, a nice chilled day at last and the weahter was good too! - a complete bonus!
