Okay today was travel day. Plan is to bus it from Bilbao Spain to san sabastien Spain which is located in northern Spain close to France.
(Julie) Sue and (gopher) Kerry have researched our travel route leaving Nuevo Linda (Spanish for lovely bride) and her Sherpa (me) to obliviously follow along.
First we walked 10 minutes to the tram then hoped on, expecting to pay someone. No one to be found so freebie it was. Cha-Ching schlamper up 3 euros.
5 stops later and we are at the bus depot . 1/2,hour later we got on our bus . OMG this was amazing.
It was luxury with a capital L. The bus had a leather lounge chair on one side of the isle and two theatre seats the other side. The seats had a cup holder on one side and folding tray on the other . The seat rest in front had a screen with movies. Music, radio or information.
So off we went when a young girl whom I will refer to as bus attendant came down the isle providing headsets. Cool. The bus is mobile and I’m going “very nice” Hey I have wifi. Wholly crap. Interesting. Oh oh look here she comes again with peanuts. Nice. Wwwhhhhaaaatttttt here she comes again “would you like beer wine cola water” she says. “Would I, is it cold in Canada darling “. And our relationship was solidified . Apparently periwinkle discovered wine so she was happily knitting and drinking wine .
Hey my beer is finished and here comes the goddess with another. I think I love her.
We arrived periwinkle refused to get off the bus as did her Sherpa. But cooler heads prevailed.
Okay we arrived walked in san sabastien what a nice city quiet, clean interesting. Since we couldn’t get into to Airbnb for an hour we stopped at a local tavern for drinks. That’s where we met a nice New York couple who are Romanian decent. Interesting talking to them.
Then into our airbnb which is three bedroom condo on the second floor. Since it’s 27 degrees off to the beach we went. This beach (plays de la concha) is referred to in travel guides as the “nicest public city beach in Europe”.
This beach is massive. With beautiful
Sand and rolling blue water . In the water we went and played like you g 30 year olds splashing In The waves etc
Then to the store to buy supplies (rum and wine) and back to the condo for snackies
We have adopted the European life. We have supper 7-8 pm at night as a lot of restaurants don’t open till 8 pm. Crazy
Also san sabastien is know for the pintxos which is a dry piece of bread 2” x 4” in dimension with a variety of toppings. When you go into a tavern all across the bar top are the sandwiches on plates. Crazy crazy good
Now I still love those tasty funeral sandwiches but it’s close.
Anyway it’s 6 pm Julie is arranging tomorrow’s day, kerry has met expectations and is continuing to be useless, periwinkle is fabulous and her msn servant (sherpaboy) is just tagging along
Now being kinda European we eat supper at 8 pm or later. You see restaurants close between 4-8pm then open for supper. Crazy huh. Anyway our pizzas were crazy good.
Back to Airbnb and I. Bed for 1/2 hr of Netflix then bed
