Hiya Peeps sorry it´s been a while have been travelling non stop for a while and arrived in Brazil about 10 days ago so have been chilling out at the beaches and haven´t had the time or energy to come to the internet cafe. Funny how doing nothing is really tiring.
OK so what have I been upto since the last update.
We went across lake titicaca to La Paz in Bolivia which is the highest capital city in the world.
It is supposed to be the poorest country in South America, but I didn´t see it, all of them driving big jeeps with 150 grand flats....i dunno.
So we spent a couple of great days in La Paz eating great food and going out to a place called Mongos where the Bolivian high society hang out with all the tourists. What a great venue.. boys there`s another place we need to reach.
We then got an flight with the Bolivian Military (TAM - they have to resort to flying tourists as they don´t get enough funding from the government) to Rurrenabaque which is a town in the Amazon Basin funny getting coffee and cookies from a squaddid instead of an air hostess, oh well only in South America..
In Rurrenabaque we did a 3 day pampas tour where we went by jeep for 3 hours down some fcuked up roads.....man i shall never complain about the state of the roads at home again. followed by a further 3 hours by canoe.
Along the way we saw about a hundred different species of birds (including the paradise bird), turtles, Capybora (big rodents) pink dolphins that we swam with, alligators, and lots of monkeys some of which we fed our breakfast bananas.
The second day of the tour we went on the anaconda trail and we found one about 2.5 metres big. Check out the photos, man that sheet is strong and slimy, rather scary but hey I gots the photo so won´t be doing that again anytime soon.
Then after lunch another swim with the pink dolphins and piranha fishing (why do so many people go fishing ...most boring thing I can think of) but we never caught jack except for the guide, but they have ferocious teeth, not sure if you can see all that well on the photo but trust..
Then on the final day we headed bcak to the jungle town where we lazed about before catching the military plane back to La Paz.
When back in La Paz we did a city tour which gave us some great views of La Paz and we saw the Moon valley which is lovely. Then onto a 12 hour bus journey to Uyuni famous for its salt lakes (the biggest in the world, 20,000 sq km). This bus journey had to be the worst in the world and considering the salt lakes are the biggest attraction in Bolivia you´d think they´d lay a proper road instead of just potholes. So when we arrived in Uyuni we were a little fcuked from the journey but we soon got over it when we arrived at the salt lakes. Words can´t describe how beautiful it is and the piccies don´t do it any justice either. A sea of salt with a few areas with shallow water surrounded by a ring of mountains and volcanoes with a few little islands dotted within the expanse home to some cacti 12 metres tall.
Something I´d advise everyone to see..
OK so that was Bolivia.
