Not everyone wanted to go to Dresden - some were just too tired and wanted a chance to sleep in instead. Some were more interested in shopping in Praha (Prague). So Gilles & Matt decided to stay behind - wimps!!
I was up at 7 and wandering around the grounds by 7:45. No one else was around until around 9. Breakfast here had everything the others had and more. They had rice pudding, boiled eggs, a toaster, 4 different cereals instead of 2. One of the cereals was chocolate granola. I was happy to be able to have the hazlenut yogurt again...wish we could get that in Canada.
Spent some time taking pictures of the ducks and other birds in the water by the hotel. We left the hotel around 10 - there were 23 of us from the group who went. It was a 2 hour bus ride to Dresden and it was a quiet ride but lots of beautiful scenery.
People kept saying there wasn't much to see in Dresden - I don't know what they consider not much - wow - some of the buildings are just breath taking!
Most of us took a bus tour of the city - 1.5 hours - it was long and at times boring but it was a great way to see the city. We wouldn't have been able to scratch the surface had we just walked around. Aunt Inger was right - it is a beautiful city and I am so glad I went.
We went to Max's for lunch - the food was wonderful. I had a salad with an entire chicken breast, yogurt dressing, tomatoe and roasted pine nuts - yummy! We sat outside so I fed the little sparrows my bread - they were pretty cheeky.
We walked into the palace courtyard and took more pictures than walked back to meet the bus. There was a little truck selling desserts and I bought the Dresden cake for Matt & Gilles.
Passed out on the ride home for a bit - can't tell you how physically exhausted I am. But sooooooo worth it!
We dropped a few of our group off in downtown Praha to explore a bit but I went back to the hotel - I have 1000 pictures to download from today!! Matt & Gilles are in Praha so I had dinner with the Lalondes. I had spinach and chicken spaghetti here at the hotel - yummy again!!!
Am planning on loading my pictures, reading a bit, watching a bit of CNN (again the only english channel) and passing out by 11. We are heading into Praha tomorrow at 10AM and are there until 8PM. Another long day!
I can't believe how fast this trip has gone but I am anxious to hug my daughter and my own pillow!!
