As i stand ive got 1 day left in California, we have done so much that the time has flown bye. In the first week we managed to rent a Chevolet pick up truck, which would rule the motorways back home, and travelled up the coast to San Fransico. There were plenty of "hot spots" on the way, namely Santa Barbra which for me was the best place on the west coast of Cali. It was home to the University of California Santa Barbra (UCSB) so there were plenty of people our age group out for a good time. Bars were open late and there were parties every night, heaven... We stayed there for 1 night on the way up to San Fransico and 2 on the way back, we loved it that much.
San Fransico was a beautiful city and well worth the visit, however, it was expensive and the hostel we stayed in was a dump so the trip was tainted by this. On the first night in our hostel we met the most revolting man eating in the dirtiest kitchen that i have ever come across, he went on to explain how he'd been bitten by a rat in the alley leading to the hostel... ah pleasent!! We managed to catch fleet week which was an air show ran every year, the place was packed and buzzing, if only we had enough money to go out and enjoy ourselves but at $6 a beer id rather leave it. We attempted to catch an NFL game while we were there however tickets were sold out within hours apparently as the 49ers were playing the Giants, the equivalent in football of Saints vs Pompey!!
On our way back down the coast we popped by Malibu Beach which was as i expected it, beautiful beaches and beautiful people who were all rather pretencious. After that week we were dreading LA, and the decision was left with Adam as to where we went next Vegas or San Diego, there was no hesitation and Vegas it was :-)
Between us and Vegas was an eagerly anticipated trip on the Greyhound, 6 hours and 50 minutes of boredom at the best of times but when we got there my nightmares had come true. It was if the local nut house had been let out for the weekend and their destination was Vegas, they stunk, spat, stole Andrews food and would not shut up!!! I was so thankfull when i made it there in one piece.
I managed to lose 60 pounds in Vegas, i was up 50 pounds at one point so i should have used more restraint, damn those bright lights!! In the end we stayed in Vegas for 5 nights as the hotel was amazing and only costing us 10 pounds a night each. For that we got a pool, gymnasium, jackuzzi and cable in our room, AWESOME!! Vegas was as i thought it would be, much better in the evening and buzzing for 24 hours - non stop entertainment, so much so that me and Adam were playing Black Jack until 7 in the morning drinking all the free booze that the kind waitress was providing.
From Vegas we got the greayhound back to LA which took 8 hours as we were delayed and then we imidiately got on the next bus to San Diego, this was a little more bearable. San Diego is my second favourite city, there is so much to see and do that our days are actioned packed, plenty of beaches and the world famous zoo, the polar bear was the highlight here!
Were flying out of LA tomorrow and the next stop will be Thaiti, bring on the sunshine...
