I want an otter. When they eat they roll onto their back and hold the food in their paws. If they have excess food they hold it on their chest. It is so cute.
So my first day in Lisbon included seeing aquatic animals. It actually started with a visit to the church of santa maria. Then onwards to Castelo St Jorge. There were peacocks and penhens co-existing with cats at the castle. The castle itself had a tower with a periscope (made old school di Vinci style with mirrors) which provided a means to spy on all of Lisbon. The light reflection was rendered cartoon like, however it was real time and at some points you could see people or cars moving.
The castle was in a prime position to take in the waterfront. The San Fransisco golden gate brudge spans the river and on the far river bank, the statue of Christ from Rio de Janerio. No joke.
I then decided to master the metro and see the oceanarium (supposedly the second biggest in Europe). There were penguins and puffins. I found Nemo. Turtles of different types. Sharks and rays. And some of thise crazy coloured highly poisonous frogs. Not to mention the otters. Like dogs with flippers! And the move with the fluid grace of a seal in the water.
Dinner was at my accommodation where a local will come in and cook a traditional Portuguese meal for €10 (bargain as it includes wine, and as I discovered later, port).
The dinner was good, although late at night (like 9pm). Thats typical for around here though. So I didnt get to bed until close to 1am after I finished the ribs, dessert and port.
