T minus 10 weeks. After years of saving I purchased a rather useful multistop plane ticket. I have three months and will be flying into/out if Tokyo, Rome, Paris and Hong Kong.
Parts are planned, others not so much. I am fortunate to have a good friend accompany me for five of those weeks.
And I plan to do the unoriginal thing and keep a blog. It's a step up from my usual letter diary style.
Thus far the planning has been a voyage itself. From choosing locations, deciding what things are non-negotiable and what could maybe be missed has meant some tough decisions.
For this trip I have handed in my notice for my job and flat, will need to pack my life into a number of cardboard boxes and hope that parts of my life will still be here when I get back.
The world is a big place and I have to start somewhere. Right now Lonely Planet and I are getting to know one another rather well...courtesy of secondhand book stores and my local well stocked library.
