We are finally leaving Gracias, which I'm actually happy about. Although our weeks holiday was fun and we got to do some really great stuff, it was time we finally went to our project in Catacamas. But I will just say that on tuesday we went to the hot springs and it felt as though we were in the Caribbean. With two hot baths, palm trees, fire lanterns and even reggae music (a lot of Bob Marley) we were in paradise. But sooner or later we had to come back to reality and start what we came here to do, become teachers.
So friday morning we experienced our first Honduran view on time and making plans; dont make plans because they mean nothing. We were told the night before that we'd be picked up on saturday. So friday morning we got on a bus to Santa Rosa which was an hour and a half and I had to listen to a man preach about God, very loudly, the whole way there. Just as we arrived I got a phone call saying that we are going to Tegucigalpa at 12 pm and being picked up from Gracias, which was in 5 minutes. This was not what we wanted to hear, but we gritted our teeth and got back onto the bus and headed back to Gracias, wasting time and money. It did however teach us a valuable lesson, that in Honduras it is important to be flexible.
As soon as we had got back to Gracias a truck took us straight to Tegucigalpa on a four hour drive, not the most exciting thing to do. We arrived in Tegus (the short way to say it) at night so it was hard to see what it looked like, but there was lots of lights and much bigger than Gracias. We stayed in a very nice hotel with our room having two double beds and one single all for kate and I.
Although the hotel was very pleasant and the staff were lovely, we did not have the best experience at night. Dont worry, we werent kidnapped or anything, or at least not yet. It was much worse than that! Basically, just as I was going to sleep I could hear what sounded like bat wings flapping next to my head. I jumped up and called kate, who was in the other room, and asked her to see what it was. We then discovered the biggest moth I have ever seen behind the curtain. Its body was as big as a tarantula! Ok that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it was still very big! Kate had the funniest reaction to the 'creature' as she took one look and pushed me out the way while running and in the process ended up falling/diving onto the floor. We decided that there were only two options. 1. To go and get a member of staff to remove it, which is quite embarrassing and pathetic. Or 2, kill it! With me being the most brave, I got a frying pan and banged it many times until I knew for sure it was dead. Even after this I still didnt feel safe so I moved rooms to be next to Kate. I really dont know how we are going to cope with all the creepy crawlys that are bound to come our way many times through the year. But ive told Kate that im always going to keep a frying pan next to my bed just in case.
So that was our exciting trip to Tegucigalpa, as we left early the next morning for Catacamas. Sorry if you find stories about weird moths boring, but if you were slightly entertained I am going to upload a video of me killing it, which I found very funny to watch.
That's all for now, night!

P.s. ive uploaded a before and after picture of the crime scene in the Tegucigalpa album just so you can visualize what we had to go through :)
