We are now in Vietnam! our visas got sorted so we left as planned, it was only a 6 hour bus journey so not too bad and we were dropped off in the backpacker area. as we were looking for a hostel this woman follwed us up the street and all the way around the corner trying to convince us to stay at her guesthouse. eventually we agreed as they were offering really cheap for air con and alot of the places in saigon are more expensive now. Its pretty mad there trying to cross the road is always interesting, the motorbike riders never even slow, just swerve to avoid you. we stayed in saigon for 2 nights, and while we were there we went to the war remnants museum and the reunification palace and places like that. we got a moto each to the museum and it was terrifying, they are crazy drivers and at one point i nearly got my foot crushed by a taxi! so from then on we just took taxis instead. We got a night bus out of saigon to Nha trang where we are now, which was an interesting experience. the sleeper buses here have sort of beds, they are set up like bunk beds, made out of normal bus seats you are half lying down and half propped up so its not a very comfy angle. especially uncomfortable for oli as they are really not made for someone that tall. also, he was on the bottom and so he had some vietnamese persons feet in his face where they had laid extra beds in the aisle. the air con also broke for a while, thank god it started working again. I suppose it was better than normal bus seats though. nha trang is really nice, good to be back on the beach in this heat. we are chilling our here for a bit longer which is also nice. yesterday was our 100th day of being away from England! so we went on an all you can eat/drink boat trip or 'booze cruise' in the evening which was pretty funny. our next stop after here is Hoi An, I think its another sleeper bus. our worst bus will be when we go to Loas which is 24 hours! so definately not looking forward to that. better go, the beach is calling haha/ x
