Holly's Travels
After Airlie beach we had a thrilling 15 hour bus trip to Rainbow beach, which we did Fraser island from. You go in groups of 9 and there were 2 4WDs, we couldnt drive though as you have to be 21. on the first day and night it rained constantly so we had to pack up the cars in the rain, put up tents in the rain ect which was not very fun. we had some really cool coloured ponchos though haha. Fraser is really cool though we went to Lake Mackenzie on the first day so I wish we'd had good weather for that as its really beautiful. we were lucky the rest of the time though so it was really fun in the end. we only got stuck once but we had one guy who was a really good driver so he managed to get us out. I also got sunburnt on the second day and Oli and especially Emily got eaten alive by mozzies but I seem to taste awful to them so thats good. There are loads of Dingoes on Fraser island but at our sencond campsite which was run by aboriginals they had 2 as pets which we got to feed. They were really cool they taught us how to play the digeridoo and they have rules like you are not allowed to whistle after dark or you attract the bad ghosts. On the last day we went to Indian Head which has gorgeous views of fraser, it was really sunny and nice which made sriving back alon the beach really good. we got back and only had to pay 3 dollars each for broken tent poles which was a relief after hearing some of the horror stories about broken suspension and groups having to pay a lot of money. We went for a night out with everyone after at this event they were running, they had competitions which we one loads of including 6 bottles of wine for winning the quiz and free ice cream plus a box of goon. the free ice cream we had for breakfast the next morning. Fraser overall was so lovely but I think i prefered whitsundays a bit more just beacuse of the weather. We are all so tired after it though and its hard to catch up here as when you are leaving you often have to check out by 9.30/10am.
