I have been in Melbourne for 6 days and it has been amazing!.
The flight was okay apart from the turbulence which was insane from Dubai to Kuala Lumpa. We sat with our seatbelts on the whole leg of that journey. The novelty of flying quickly wore off after 4 hours but it was fine. I'm quite happy not to get on another long haul flight for a while as well.
On the first day I went to bed for a few hours and then got up around 7am Oz time and Tash, Audra & I went to one of the little towns on the mountain. We came back and I went for a nap and then got up again mid afternoon. In the evening we went to see Dan's brother who has just back surgery so we had a thai take out with him.
On the tuesday Tash & I went into the city to the Vic markets which were amazing. We meet this hilarious guy on the meat counter that kept on shouting 'It's Ridiculous'. He also proceeded to tell us his complete life story. Tash bought kangaroo steaks and we had them for tea.... they were super yummy.
Wednesday I headed into the city by myself. It takes about 45-55 mins to get into the city from the train station. I had a bit of a problem with my ticket but I quickly sorted it out. Once in the city I walked the length of Collins street and explored all of the shops. I then headed to federation square where I grabbed lunch and then went into a museum. That was all about radio, television & gaming and how its evolved. It was really cool, I did this thing called a time slice as well. Its what they do in the movies like the matrix.
Thursday Tash & I headed into Healsville where we had lunch at Giant Steps which is my new favourite place. We drank Moscato which again is amazing. We then went for a drive around the Yarra Glen and it was pretty impressive.
Thursday night I met my new congregation and they were adorable. I got the biggest bear hug ever.
On Friday I again headed into the city as I had some bank stuff to sort and did some more shopping. I am so chuffed that I found the mango store, just don't ask me to find it again. I also got a new sim card as my one wasn't working on the mountain.
Friday night Tash, Dan & I headed to the Xavier Rudd gig which was amazing!.
