Holly's adventure!!!
we hired a 2seater 4x4 but they had run out so up graded us to an 11 seater landrover!!!! was massive, the island is the worlds largest sand island and there are literally no roads so we were driving around on the worlds bumpiest dirt tracks, we literally had to yell to hear each other and i was constantly checking to make sure our stuff hadnt flown out the back cos it was a soft top and everything flew everywhere over all the bumps, was crazy. the land rover over heater the first day so we were forced to camp on the beach side, the east coast beach is the main road, so wierd. you cant sunbathe or swim there as there are vans bombing up and down all day and the tide comes in fast so we couldnt travel any further. the next day (thurs 6th) we drove up the beach to a really old ship wreck and then Eli creek, which is basically a natural lazy river, was so amazing. then we drove up to Indian head which is the northern most point of the island that u can drive to and we walked to the top and i looked out to sea and i could sea whales swimming then in the distance there were some jumping!!! was brilliant. we drove inland and camped in the middle of the rainforest last night after walking to this lake in the middle which was so stunning, everything on the island is completly natural and u can hardly tell people have been on it. there is no rubbish or buildings. friday (7th) we went to lake makenzie and birrabeen, the waters there are crystal clear, and they are surrounded by the rainforest so the views are literally breath taking.
