Hi Everyone!
Hope thing are good back at home. We're in Byron Bay now. We had a great time in Brisbane, Australia Zoo was lots of fun and we met up with Adam who stayed next door to me the last time I lived in Sydney.
From there we went to Noosa which is beautiful, if any of you have won the lottery since i've been away i suggest a luxury apartment in Noosa as your first purchase it is a beautiful town for the well off holidaymakers in Oz. We tried our best to blend in but I don't think it worked!
After Noosa we set off for Surfers Paradise, I knew it was a bhit wild but hadn't banked on it being the first weekend of schoolies week for Queensland, this is when the year 12 studentts all celebrate finishing High School and all descend on mass to resorts like Surfers Paradise. Most of them are only 17 still so they just end up roaming the streets drunk out of their minds and with nowhere to go. All the holiday apartments are full of them. Luckily we found a great hostel just a bit out of the main bit and because they were licenced they weren't taking any bookings from the schoolies so it was nice and quiet.
The first night there we got settled in and had an early night then got up early and headed for 'Wet and Wild!"http://wetnwild.myfun.com.au It was so much fun, we ran around like big kids and went on all the water rides even the Tonado(check website) which scared the life of me but once i'd been on it i wanted to do it again .
After Wet and Wild we headed back to the hostel got ready and headed into the madness of the town. We were planning on having dinner, a few drinks and then watching the Scotland game at 1am. We went for a great dinner and drank a bottle of wine each and a couple of Cowboy shots, our table was right beside the main street so we got entertained by all the schoolies (we saw 4 getting handcuffed and arrested before 10pm) We headed next to an Irish bar and had a few more drinks and we checked what time the football was on it was a 5pm kick off at home so we'd have to wait until 3am here to watch it and it would have finished at 5am just when the whole of Surfers Paradise heads home for the night and we would only have been able to watch it somewhere with the sound off.
So we headed home then and we were just going to check the score later, no taxi's would pick us up I think they thought we were schoolies(well i'm telling myself that anyway) so we walked home, in my heels well more accuratly on my bare feet with the occasional piggyback form Hoggie, not the best journey home but at least it was warm and dry.
The worst thing happened the next mornign though, the owner of the hostel told us the hostel had the satellite channel that the game was on so we could have stayed in and watched it there in confort (Oh well!)
So thats us now in beautiful Byron Bay, and i remember why I love it here, its so pretty and so laid back. We are staying here til Saturday so we'll have a good relaxing few days and top up our tans before heading back to Sydney.
I'll put some more pictures up soon, but this place doesn't let you upload anything so will need to do it later.
Hope you are all well, speak to you soon.
Lots of love, S&H. xxxx
