Yes this post is literally just going to be praise for Pizza Hut. Returning from Kashgar was possibly the worst trip I have ever made. By the time we arrived in Urumqi It had been 60 hours with less than 4 hours sleep. Despite having had pizza twice in the previous week, pizza hut was still the motivation that made that journey bearable. I mean yes, the other 9 Xinjiang volunteers are wonderful (some of them anyway) but spending 30 hours on a very confined wooden L seat train with them was starting to do my head in. We got off the train promptly, booked tickets back to Kuitun and then headed for pizza hut. Best 100 kuai I've ever spent. I had a chicken and pepperoni with cheesesauce stuffed crust pizza, nothing else mattered. Unfortunately it was gone very soon after I started it and so I had to sit and watch the other volunteers eat theirs....
Anyway, feeling sort of revived we parted ways with Brian, Reece and Lauras to go and stay with Ben and Alastair again for the night. Despite the fact that we were all shattered, we didnt crash when we got back to their apartment, we played Kpop. Kpop is a genre of music I didnt know existed until recently but its actually quite popular here in China, and I'll admit it is actually quite catchy.. Despite the Kpop it wasnt long before I was flat out and even though I was sleeping on the I was extremely grateful.
The next day myself, callums and James all headed back into urumqi, and took various modes of transport back to our projects. Its nice to be home now even if it does mean I have to go back to work!
Will write soon,
Harrison
