Well, after dropping my hire car off this morning, I spent the majority of my day on a Peter Pan bus ;o) it was actually pretty smooth going even with 3 separate buses and 2 taxis and I finally got to my hotel at Newark airport about 9pm.
I was fighting with myself in my head whole way though - stay the night in Manhattan v’s Newark airport, but the price for a one night stay in Manhattan was ridiculous and all I really wanted to do was get to my hotel room to watch the double episode of greys anatomy season 15 premier!
Well, the queue at the hotel to check in was near enough out the door (it seemed that a whole bus load of Japanese kids arrived just before me) and then when I finally got to the check in desk there was a letter I was asked to read advising me that cases of Legionnaires disease had been reported at the hotel and supposedly the hotels water system is to blame and a replacement of the system is currently underway!
In the meantime however, if you are over 50/have a weak immune system they do not recommend you having a shower!!
Although I am not in that position I am basically not going to take the risk, so I’ll have spent all day on a bus today and then pretty much the majority of the day on a plane tomorrow - all I can say is the hotel in San Francisco had better have a bloody good shower!!
After all that, the key to my hotel room didn’t work and back down to reception I went to - the queue for check in was still huge and I don’t like jumping the queue but I had already waited about 30 mins and the key hadn’t been coded correctly. Found out that there were actually about 5 people in the queue in exactly the same position - which made me feel worse for jumping the queue!
And of course by the time I actually got into the room there was only about 20 mins left of the 2nd episode of greys anatomy :o( :o( :o( :o(
My flight tomorrow isn’t until 2pm so I can have a long lie before I get the shuttle to the airport - roll on San Francisco!!!
