KL to Singapore
Having spent an 'Owen' day at Sunway lagoon water and theme park (H and J enjoyed too!) we left KL, southbound via bus to the port town of Malaca. We left KL pleased to have seen the city, but sure that we would not bend over backwards to go there again. A very unispriring city with no real heart to it.
Malaca was a charming town to while away a day. We stayed in chinatown where the original buildings had thankfully been kept in tact. Preparations were underway for chinese new year all around us. A touristy trikshaw ride took us around the town - and I think gave us all sunstroke as this was by far the hottest and most humid day to date.
We took a bus to Singapore which had the biggest seats i've ever seen on a bus - but was phenomennally rickety. Shaken to bits, we get through Singapores customs and head off to our hotel. Sloane Court hotel, which on the map seemed a little far out, turned out to be a gem. Why?In a city which in our opinion has been stripped of all interest (apart from Chinatown) and has no soul, it was great to stay somewhere quirky. We allocated a day for sightseeing (Way over the top - a few hours was enough!) a day for Owen to go to Singapores family attractions on Sentosa Island which was a HUGE rip-off and crap and then sadly we had to waste a day before we could get the flight to Australia. If shopping all day in mall after mall is your idea of a holiday, Singapore is heaven. So, with very glad hearts we left Singapore and headed for Australia.
