Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
Day 28 Tues 7 Jun 16 Port Lincoln, early sunshine changing to a cloudy but fine day, 10 to 17 deg. Looked ominous all day. A walk at sunrise along the foreshore started the day. Not so cold with the clouds hanging around. Got brekky out of the way and then on the bikes to explore the city. First went and checked out the very busy wharf area, with its massive grain silos that service the equally massive broad acre farms that go for 100s of kms on the Eyre Peninsula. There was a bulk carrier being loaded (with up to 400,000 tons of wheat) while we were there. Also at the wharf, but unloading, were the trawlers with their many tonnes of pilchards and tuna. Tuna (also lobster, abalone, prawns & squid) are the reason for the very high number of millionaires in this place. Continued our tour through along the foreshore where we saw a statue of Makybe Diva, triple Melbourne Cup winner 2003 to 05. Bit further along the War Memorial and the local Maritime Museum. It was then out to the Marina where a lot of the millionaires have a pad and an OTT boat. The place smells and looks like money, and s little bit fishy! But are they happy; LOL!! Home for lunch and some work for Wendy while Greg went to book the BT50 in to have the lock nut on the tow bar re-welded as it had come off in his hand when checking one day. Just stops the tow bar rattling around in the housing, doesn't affect the safety or anything. Amazing that the rain held off all day as the clouds always looked like they wanted to unload on us. A really good day after all, although tomorrow doesn't look too promising for a bike ride. Dinner was leftover veggies with salmon and roo meat.
