Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
17-28 deg C; 70-33% humidity Cycled: 46km; total: Up at 6:45 for an 8am departure for a morning ride along the Torrens in the opposite direction to the city, i.e. into the Hills. It was a nice 31km heart starter for the day at a relatively low temperature, for us anyway. We had breakfast before we left and it was time for mornos when we got home. We had to wait until 11am for Woolies to open and then rode the 1.2km complete with backpacks to being the groceries home in. It was then time for lunch and who can resist a sandwich made with fresh bread? We couldn't so had salad sandwiches with sardines for Greg and chicken for Wendy. We then had a siesta to be able to stay up for the start of the TDU in the city - a criterium of 22 laps of a 2.3km course. We chose a spot looking into the sun for the start but the sun soon went down behind a large tree and it was very pleasant. The race started off relatively slowly, and the last two laps were a blurrrrrrr. When standing against the barrier when they went passed us doing about 70km/h, you really felt it. It was quite a buzz o=for the first few laps and then became a bit dreary until the last two. Our rode home was a bit frantic as we did not have front lights, and we made it with a few moments to spare. Gunther and Yvonne had lights and if needed they could have gone in front. Dinner was very light tonight given the late hour. Lights out was a bit later than usual due to the late outing/
