Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
95km, 28 to 36deg, cloud patches but fine. Breakfast of eggs, toast and tea/coffee was served up in a very grand looking dining area with fine furniture. The guides decided to bus us to a market-town about 20 minutes from the hotel and we spent an interesting half hour wandering around. The walk through the fresh/dried fish and meat areas really assaulted the senses. Nobody stopped for a snack, especially the two vegetarians who are with us. It was then onto the bikes and straight onto a fairly busy road. The traffic all the way this day was big, faster than normal and more frequent. However not once did I feel threatened or in danger despite the fact that there were a lot of big trucks and coaches, along with the normal mix of crazy contraptions. We started seeing some tourists for the first time this tour, a German group was quite surprised when we pulled into the same lunch stop as them and even more so when we told them where we'd come from. Our hotel, Kanbawza Hinthar, looked flash and was very comfy, but their wi-fi leaves a lot to be desired. So this blog may be late hitting the press. Then again I might just crack it. Dinner was Asian, just for a change. I had the sweet and sour duck with a side dish of cabbage and mushrooms along with steamed rice. All very nice. Washed down with a bottle of Myanmar beer, only because I need to replace fluids. Another great day.
