Steve , Allegra and Buddy the dog, picked my up in the morning and we headed to Orlando airport. Moments after saying my goodbyes to them I was on the bus to Port Canaveral…and you guessed it, the Disney music started the second I stepped foot on it! A steel band version of Under The Sea works quite well though I have to say….
Anyway, after arriving at the port and completeing all the necessary checking in procedures I head onto the boat. First things first, check out the cabin! As with all Disney accomodation, it was really lovely, clean and the attention to detail is amazing. Next, explore the boat!
I won't go into the details of every bit of the boat else I'll be here for hours, but there's 3 main restaurants which you rotate around each evening, a big Broadway-style theatre, a movie theatre, a spa and gym,a piano lounge, a sports bar and a nightbclub. There's also 3 pools, one for ickle kiddies, one for families, and one for 18+. I know which one I'll be heading to! The family pool does have a giant screen though were Disney films and cartoons are played through the day which was pretty cool! There was obviously a lot for the kids too, but I did manage to avoid my inner 5 yr old coming out and left them to it.
Now, not that I spent much time in my room, but its worth mentioning the TV channels. Disney own ABC, and ESPN, so the available channels were….Disney Cruise TV, ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel and LOADS of Disney film channels. I would recommend only Disney lovers come on this cruise, as you're going to have an overload of it! I am currently watching Aladdin as I write this, but I'm quite happy about it!
After having my exploration, it was time to set sail…and in true Disney style we have to have a bit of a party to celebrate such an event! There are a few piccies in the album of this.
After the party, I headed to the Walt Disney theatre, which seats about 1500 people, to watch "The Golden Mickeys". There is a different show on each night, and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of them as the cast were brilliant. The show was based on an awards ceremony…best villian, best hero etc, so you saw a lot of the characters. The girl who played Cruelle de Vil thought stole the show! She had tough competition from Tarzan though….he was particularly attractive in his loin cloth flying around the stage.J A great start to the evening! (There are photos of this too, but you weren't allowed any flash photography so they didn't come out too well, sorry.)
Next I went to dinner at "Animators Palate". This restaurant starts out black and white, but during the course of the evening, the colours in the pictures fill in and by the end of the meal it's all colourful…even the waiters change their outfits! This is the first of three restaurants I'll be going to, but the great thing was that I was sat at a table with 6 other people my age, so I had some company for dinner. One girl, Brittany, plays Ariel in the MGM/Hollywood park, so you can imagine I had about a million questions for her! There was also a couple from Michigan who were on their honeymoon. Our waiter was called Brian, and he explained that he would also rotate through the restaurants with us, so I would have the same people and waiters to dine with, which comforted me to know I'd actually know people each day. The dinner was great too - forgot to mention the food there!
I headed to "Route 66" where all the adult bars are after dinner to see what was going on - a few gameshows in one bar which were fun to watch (especially one which was a take on the newlywed game) but I settled in the Piano lounge called the Cadillac lounge because the décor was all made from old Cadillac cars! There piano player/singer knew a lot of my favorites, so I had a glass of rose and was a happy bunny.
Bahamas tomorrow!
