Arrived safe and sound at Amy's, very grateful for her coming to pick me up from Gatwick even if she did miss the pick up point and end up in a car park on the floor above :). After a small complication of getting stuck at the exit barrier we were away.
Today there were a few more goodbyes for Amy, a few last minute bits and bobs were purchased in a little bit of a mad panic and I was treated to a very scrummy lunch! I've bought an International SIM card but later found it didn't fit in my phone, if I can cut it down to fit it may be quite useful. If that's not successful I hope to buy a SIM in SE Asia and Aus so communication will be easier. We most likely wont have much electricity and chance to charge phones on our African adventure so I will mainly be keeping it locked up and well hidden.
So 1 more night! I'm getting very excited about the big plane and hoping there will be some good films shown! Just checked in online, made sure were sat together hopefully away from the toilets, and had our boarding passes delivered to our smart phones! Amy's quite nervous, she's not a confident flyer or hardened traveller like us rock dwellers. Although, it will very different to anything I've done before!
At the moment I'm feeling nervous about the 'slum it' style camping that will be in store but it will all be part of the experience and everyone will be in the same boat!
I'll update with how we both fair with the 1st bit of proper bit of travelling when I get a chance. Dubai airport has wifi and after some research it looks like our Nairobi hotel has wifi that can be purchased which I think we will opt for as we'll be out of reach after that for a few weeks maybe, we'll see.
Next stop- the Dubai stop over. First of the long hauls.
