So I’m in Sydney now. We are all in single rooms but we are spread out on 4 different floors in several different suites. We’re getting used to it though. It’s nice to finally be able to unpack and not live out of a suitcase. My room smells like moth balls and now also like chlorine because I went swimming yesterday. The pool was nice, very crowded but nice. The water was probably like 82 degrees though so I could only swim like a 200 at most before I got dehydrated. It was nice to swim again though. I forget sometimes how much I love it! I got a lot of souvenirs when I went into town on my first day. I haven’t been all the way into town yet though, we just went to the touristy part; china town. Tomorrow night we are all going into town though to see Transformers in Imax so we’ll spend the night exploring and seeing the sights.
Camp started yesterday so I’m trying to keep busy to keep my mind off of it. I’m going to try to send the postcards that I’ve written today. Today a lot of people are going to the surf lessons scheduled. The weather here has been kinda cloudy and we haven’t had a good surf day yet so I’m glad I didn’t sign up. The first activity I have is next week on Thursday, the Taronga Zoo overnight stay. I’m excited about that! I’m sure I’ll have lots of stories to tell! Then the Tuesday following that I have the opera at the opera house; I’m really excited about that as well!
I have to start composing our video for class. My group has decided to make a music video documentary. We are going to show the program and the kids in the program’s experiences through the song “land down under” which apparently is a popular song here. It should be fun. I don’t usually get to make music videos at school so this should be fun. I finished the Hyannis Sound Documentary, or at least the ‘director’s cut.’ I’ll eventually have to re-edit it if I want to submit it to Visions because it is about 15 minutes long right now. I can submit it as a long submission but it is less likely to get in if I do that. So I’ll just edit out some stuff that I find interesting but someone who has never heard of the group might not find interesting.
Alright well I have a lot of reading to do, we’re knee deep into our literature aspect of our program so g’day mates!
