The Dashing Diner

OBUD_-
It is lovely - a kind of Asian Portabello road- lots of shops- arty farty,Bohemian, nick nacks and also elegant chic- lots of tut and fun to brouse. Close by teh rice padi fields are lush green and the general surroundings are aesthetically lovely and varied. It seems much in Bali is consciously elegant and thought has been dedicated to where offerings and altars are placed -all kept immaculately. So much time and money is given to ceremonies - by all members of the Balinese society-great respect and love is a natural - It is in their blood and culture - something one could learn from. They seem to give as well as take.
Judy and I have embarked on a cookery course and the Laeke Lake cooking school. Just a morning course -menu including the ever present satay with peanut sauce(BUT different to what we experience at home-MUCH better here) Also being learned is a chicken coconut and potato dish, marinated fish curry and others.Really fun and interesting- hope we can repeat the flavours back in Bar sur Loup- Guy Cheston you will be my kitchen squirrel.
Like two grand dames we had the pleasure of eating everything afterwards- the spread would have fed 8 people - but we grazed for a couple of hours - rushing not being on our agenda and -finally succumbed .Our tummies full to bursting we waddled back through the rice paddies - resembling the fatted ducks squatting in their noisy groups.
Our accomodation is special- owned by a large family - there are three hotels - al balinese style and tastefully decorated with the sweetest staff to attend to every whim. Large room ,Veranda huge bathroom $75 plus tax with brekkie - fab.A must if you visit here....
Will continue later off to Sanur for day trip.
