Tip No. 1. Never try to walk ANYWHERE in Dubai...you will cry and quite possibly die...
What can I say about Dubai?! Well...as Rach said earlier 'they have a lot of rules here but it's pretty much a free-for-all'...
We've had a really fun 2 days, but the weather has made it really hard to do loads! It's averaged around 37 degrees and about 35 in the evening...we even had to sit down in someones drive yesterday under a bush to cool down...classy!
However, we have done quite a bit! We went to the Dubai marina yesterday which had some amazing boats and buildings. Then according to our map it was a short little walk towards Jumeriah Beach where we could look at the sea, have a bit of a swim and relax. This short walk turned into us running over a dual carriage way, going back and forth over the same flyover, trying to get a German couple into a taxi with us and walking through a construction site - safe to say that Dubai isn't really designed for walkers! Most people drive or take taxis and its easy to see why.
There is a really good metro system in the city which we used a lot to get from place to place and after 2 days we have mastered this...I think Rach wants to work for them and even bought a postcard with the metros on it. You can get a day pass to use on the trams and buses for 16AED which is about £2.50. After trying to find the beach and failing we took the metro to the Dubai Creek and had dinner.
We are now waiting in the airport to go to our next stop Colombo, Sri Lanka - should arrive there tomorrow morning :)
Lots of love, Helen xxxxx
P.s. Natalie & Leanne - bananas eaten, 2 and a half each :)
