Helen's Travels
OK, so after Galveston we headed up north to Dallas and Fort Worth. Dallas was nice but there wasnt a whole lot to see so I am glad we only spent a day there. We got to see Dealy Plaza which was quite strange as there is a big mark on the ground to show you where JFK was shot and people who point out all the different directions that the shots came from. Fort Worth was nice too and we went to the stockyards district which is all old western shop fronts and stuff and there is a live longhorned cattle herd which go up and down the street twice a day. After that we headed back down to Houston and had a great weekend with my cousins. It was a nice change to not do anything touristy and just relax. We visited a couple of malls, went to the cinema, ate lots of food and spent the evenings out in the hot tub. We even got to speak to my cousin in Iraq which was cool. hopefully they will all be coming over to scotland soon to catch up with the rest of the family. We arrived in Austin a couple of days ago and the hostel is nice except they have a lock out between 11am and 5pm which means you cant get into your rooms and there is a bit of a communal shower situation which is kinda annoying. Apart from that though Austin is really nice, it is not too sunny at the moment but still hot so I think we might go up to a park today where you can swim in a spring fed pool. After that is is off to San Antonio. Keep you posted! hx
