Made it to Greece safely! The flights were good and I immediately fell in love with this country. My first 24 hours here couldn't have gone over better; we took a bus from Elefetharios Airport to the University and the ride was a lot longer than I expected (like an hour) but I was happy I got to see a lot. My apartment is beautiful, the people are great and we've already had a lot of fun. After orientation last night we got dinner and a tour of the immediate area from 2 guys from the school's Student Council. Then we went across the road to a little cafe/bbq/bar/restaurant thing and got some wine then went to explore some more. The Acropolis is literally right up the road from us and we got see it lit up last night. It was honestly one of the most amazing, breathtaking sights I've ever taken in. It gives me chills just thinking about it. Unreal. To end last night Carly, Amy and I did some extra exploring (aka we got lost) trying to find the sports bar the guys in our group went to to watch the Super Bowl. It was hilarious; we had a map and went and asked this group of people to help us get where we were going and I had to ask her in spanish, then she asked her boyfriend in Greek, then he answered in Greek, she translated in Spanish then I translated into English! It was so awesome. There's something so enthralling about getting lost. We eventually found the bar, the guys weren't there, we had a beer, watched a couple of plays and then headed out. Getting to our destination was more exciting then finally finding it! We had orientation and another walking tour of the area this morning and I was running on about 6 hrs of sleep, so it was a bit exhausting, but once I'm up and going and exploring I forget about the lack of sleep. I don't think I will ever get sick of this place. Right now everything is new and exciting, but I don't think that feeling is going to change drastically while I'm still here. Academically, I just had a Greek language class today and I'm picking up the language as well as can be expected, I guess. Can't wait to be more fluent! And now...here I am. Still tired, but I think we're making plans for food and tonight. it's one of the guy's birthday so I think it should me a memorable (or not so much?) night! Life is good, getting lost is great, I want this feeling of exploration and excitement to go on forever!! EXCITING! ...just thought I'd throw that word in one more time. Maybe I need a thesaurus....
