Our first big trip away with our new Quantum Aussie Off Road Camper to travel to Victoria and South Australia to watch Cadel Evans final races as a professional rider. It rains for a week before we leave and our usual form in breaking the drought or creating weather phenomena wherever we go looks set to continue although we remain forever optimistic. We left on Tuesday 5 January at 12:36 pm already late and knowing we were to lose an hour through daylight saving. Up the Toowoomba range and Kevin is wishing he'd got the land cruiser instead of the Prado so that we weren't in the slow lane. Looking for a roadhouse on the western side of Toowoomba to find there wasn't any and on we drove to Milmerran before we stop for lunch. We went to this thing BP service station that has a limited menu on display that if we hadn't been so hungry we would have kept on going. We were so wrong! The best of food and coffee reasonably priced and nice friendly service and somewhere we'd definitely stop again. Next stop Goondiowindi. What a clean and well maintained rural town. The Foodworx store there sold real ham off the bone and Rosemary and lamb sausages reasonably priced and just delicious. Spent the night at Moree Showgrounds. Great warm showers and $11 for the night for two people! So cheap!
