We awoke early from our chalet in rainbow beach to head down to Australia Zoo for the day. It took us a couple of hours down the Bruce highway listening to soft rock on the radio (pretty much all they have - they love their Jimmy Barnes) before we finally approached "Steve Irwin way" - the road that leads to the zoo. We had great fun interacting with the animals, especially the koalas and kangaroos that you could pet, and we really enjoyed the croc show - just not the same without Steve though. On the way back down to Brisbane we stopped by the "Giant pineapple" which has no purpose in life, other than to be a giant pineapple that you can climb (see photos). We are staying in a motel near Brisbane airport ready to fly up the Whitsundays tomorrow!
