Day 4
We got up at 8am, showered and got ready for breakfast. We went to Hameed's restaurant as it was nice the last time we went. Jay had Roti Planta and Helen had Roti Sardin.
After breakfast, we made our way to the Batu Caves. On the way to the caves at the change over station we met a nice guy from the Maldives who is studying 3D Animation at the local University.
Once we arrived, we headed straight to the steps. We began climbing all 272 steps in the heat. This actually wasn't too bad as we started early in the morning, it was good practise for when we do more hiking later into our trip.
When got inside the caves, Helen was taken back by the sheer size of the cave itself. There were the odd flutters of bats above our heads flying around the peaks of the cave. There is a strong Hindu religious theme throughout these caves with many shrines and statues all around.
There is a thriving monkey population that pretty much own the place!! They are extremely mischievous yet very much used to having people around them. We saw them eating coconuts, bananas, and anything they could get their paws onto!! We even saw one of them steal a bottle of water from out of a tourist's hands!!
After the Batu Caves we returned to our hostel. Jay went to the 7 eleven store around the corner to purchase an international phone card for 10RM, so we could contact the Chinese Visa Centre in Singapore. However we had no luck in getting through which was really annoying; so we emailed them instead.
We went to Chinatown for lunch. We shared a plate of 10 spring rolls and an Anchor beer. We then went back to our hostel as we were both quite tired.
We went out for some fruit in the evening. We shared a mango and a pink Dragon fruit, they were both very sweet and delicious. Whilst eating, we were caught in a thunder storm and got a bit wet.
We went back to Jalan Alor street for dinner (we love this place). We had Thai mango chicken and prawn noodles. Jay had a big tiger beer and Helen had a sour plum juice.
We then went BB Park, which is an up-market bar area. Jay had a mug of Tiger beer from draught.
After this we went to Lot 10 food court, as Jay wanted some Khieu for dessert. This is a sweet Malaysian, rice based, dessert.
We then went back to our hostel to pack our stuff, ready for Singapore!!!
