TUESDAY 22ND FEBRUARY
Myself and Casey got up at the crack of dawn to move onto Boca Brava as the pictures showed clear seas, golden sands and lots of snorkelling. It didnt quite work out like that as the island is on an estuary so the waters were very tidal and silty and the only golden sand around had to be accessed by boat as they were on another island. Still, we had a nice afternoon swimming and getting bronzed and we saw lots of wildlife including some howler monkeys, an armadillo and a whole bunch of crabs that came out of holes in the sand to make weird little sand pellets.
That evening we sat out on the restuarant balcony listening to the sea, and as well as a failing attempt to teach me chess casey alsdo bought me dinner. he tricked me into it but I did enjoy the red snappeer fillet. we spent hours pouring over the atlas dreaming about all the exotic places we want to visit, beth was right, this travelling lark really is infectious and the more i do the more i want to do.
WEDNEDAY 23RD FEBRUARY
both myself and casey decided to bomb out of boca Brava early as it didnt really cater for the back packing market and head back to David where i was due to meet dave later that day. First, we had to go and say goodbye to the beach and the dozens of tiny hermit crabs that i thought were sooo sweet. the bus journey back to the city was so cramped and sweaty but we eventually got there, had lunch and spent a good few hours luxuriating in the pool. aahhhh, shame about the piss taking about being english i got though....
That evening we were feeling creative so pumped up the barbeque and grilled some red snapper with red pepper salsa to make the most delicious fish tacos I have ever had. soooo good. It was washed down with a decent amount of rum and a late night dip in the pool... dave arrived late so missed most of the fun and all of the rum but at least he got to swim, it was so weird seeing him in panam but at least it means that its time to get on with the serious part of my travels - the dreaded jungle...
