When we woke up after a great night's sleep and looked out of our room window it was clear that it was going to be a wet day however it still didn't seem that cold.We went down stairs to our provided breakfast (which was a pleasant surprise to us) and had vegemite on toast (Yes I had to bring it with me). Then it was off on our first tour, a city tour of Seattle. We saw heaps of things we would have missed if we had of just looked around by ourselves and learnt a few interesting facts: (1) the first Starbucks opened here at the Pike Market Place.(2) Bruce Lee is from Seattle and has a Martial Arts shop in Chinatown. (3) If it wasn't for brothels and the Ladies of the Night there would be no U.P.S. (4) The City of Seattle uses tourists to combat drug dealers instead of police because we are cheaper. (5) After the great fire they just built above the debris and now there is underground streets where the original Seattle was and modern Seattle is actually 1 floor up. After our city tour we headed out to Boeing where we looked at the Flight memorabilia and were taken into the actual working Boeing assembly lines and saw the 747, 777 and 787 being built. It was amazing to see these planes in separate pieces and how they are put together like a jigsaw puzzle. It fills us with confidence for our next 9 flights, NOT.As we drove back to downtown we went past the Seattle houseboats and saw the houseboat that Tom Hanks lived in, in Sleepless in Seattle. Now we need to watch the movie! We finished out first full day of sightseeing with a great pizza dinner and then made our way back to the hotel where Rene laid on the bed and tried to make his phone work ( I think he just watched T.V) while I went for a Run and workout in the hotel Gym.Tomorrow we head to Whistler.(Weather Note: it did start to get really cold tonight (7 degrees Celsius at 4:30pm) particularly when the wind blew.)
