Heather's Travels
Hi Everyone!
Having become very fed up with the heat and glare (and accompanying migraines) I got off my tour in Darwin and got a cheap flight to Melbourne on Sunday night.
I arrived here early on monday morning without having slept any more than an hour or two and consequently spent most of monday wandering around in a daze!
I am a little more awake now and am absolutely loving it here. At first I was a little apprehensive, but now I have no regrets about my decision. To be honest, there's a part of me that wishes I'd done it sooner, but I would have missed out on the outback if I had and that I would have regretted I think.
Yesterday, I went to the Melbourne Observation Deck... twice! Its a 250+m tower that you can view the city from. The views are spectacular and i have some wonderful daytime, sunset and night time photos. Those of you who want to see my travel photos will get very sick of the sight of this city from a great height!!
I also went to the aquarium, which was quite good. I saw some 220kg rays being fed and listened to a talk about sharks (no panicking Nicole!). I then went for a walk around the Fitzroy Gardens and saw Captain Cook's cottage.
Today I have been on a walking tour of the city, learning about the history and architecture here. This afternoon I plan to take the free city circle tram to see some of the sights and go for a walk through the botanic gardens. I may go to the National Gallery of Victoria if I get tired out the walking.
Can't believe I only have one and a half weeks left. Time has gone so quickly, yet slowly at the same time, its really strange. Having said that, I think there is a part of me that is ready to go home - I miss you all lots!!
Will update you again soon, if not from here then from Sydney next week.
