Hazel and Kieran's adventure!
Kia ora from Rotorua!!
Well what an action packed few days we have!!! When we got here we booked into another campsite...and then it rained. And rained. And rained. We had forgotten what rain was, so mother nature had decided to give us a large helping!!! Bless her. We also found out that although the tent is cool, its not what one would call waterproof. So after a bit of girl guide sewing we fixed it so it only dripped a little through the top. But least there was no ants!!!!!
Oh, and if you are wondering why we are soaking wet stood by an inflatable gerbil ball in the picture, that would be Zorbing, a strange phenomenon invented by the Kiwis who we have decided are a race of nutters. Zorbing is great fun though, you pay to get in one of these huge golf balls with a bucket of warm water for good measure and then you are pushed down a hill. We went in one together on the straight course, and then decided to indulge in a zigzag zorb. You are instead shoved down a course in the shape of a zig zag where you realise how a washing machine must feel. Great fun!!!!
After that, we went to the very nice Polynesian spa (check out the photos!) and had a soak to let the days worries and zorbing injuries float away!! Its all natural and mineral water from the local hot spring called the radium spring (!) and is very nice to say the least.
So tonight we are going to see a Maori show, eating the traditional hangi and taking part in a Haka!! Then tomorrow we are going to see the lady knox geyser then we are on our way to Taupo, for more thrills and bonkers.
Wish you were here,
The Zorbonauts xxxxxxxxxx
