Well today I went along Great Ocean Road and it was fantastic. I was picked up from my hostel at five past seven and then driven to our first stop that took about an hour and a half. It was totally worth getting up so early, when everyone else was still snuggled in bed, as it was beautiful. We then continued along the road and stopped at several beaches and scenic places that are all in the photos that I have loaded on. We stopped for lunch at a small cafe that was kind of in the middle of no where and was provided with yummy sandwiches to make ourselves. We was told that if we walked through the woodland areas we would probably be able to spot some Kowala's in the trees! I was so excited that I skipped the sandwiches and went off in search of them and I didn't have to walk far until I spotted one lazily nibbling at a branch and munching away. I started taking some photos and then noticed that there was a tiny baby holding onto its back (that you can just about see in one of the photos.) There were a few others that I saw but they were fast asleep.
I started to walk back to grab a sandwich when all of a sudden it started to rain! I quickly walked back and assumed that the driver would be packing the food away, but he was just casually making a sandwich for himself and said to me 'you best make one quick before it all goes!' So there I was with my rain jacket on, my hood zipped up around my face, standing there making a sandwich! Then all of sudden the heavens opened even more and I was standing with my unfinished sandwich in torrential rain, but did I run and scream like a girl?! No I did not, I continued standing there in the pouring rain, so I could finish making it! lol. I then ran over to where everyone else was and took cover to eat my soggy lunch.
After lunch we left for our next stop when the sun came out and stayed out for the rest of the day. One of the stops that I really liked was the secluded cove. It was so pretty and had such a calm feeling to it that I could have stayed there all day, but nothing can beat the Twelve Apostles! The views were amazing and just as we arrived the sun had started to set, that made it even better.
For dinner we stopped off at a noodle bar, which was very tasty and then headed off back to our hostels. The Great Ocean Road was brilliant and I loved every bit of it. There were so many views to take your breath away, that I can't really pin point one that was my favourite.
I finally got back to my hostel at about ten o'clock and was completely shattered, so I went straight up to bed. It was a very long day, but totally worth it. I went to bed very happy and looking forward to my next trip to Phillip Island.
