It's been a hard day for the girls!! We went to labour ward this morning and it was very busy!! I delivered a baby and then helped one of the UK child health nurses deliver the second! The second woman had FGM and managed to deliver her baby boy with only a 2nd degree tear, I thought it would be much worse ! Then the midwife- who I have seen suture before wanted to suture with no local anaesthetic so I quickly did it before the MW could go ahead with the needle... She then cut more of the women and re-sutured the FGM ! It was horrific and I pretty much vomited and almost passed out! Rachel delivered a still birth, she was obvioUsly really upset and apparently the baby had been 'sleeping' for a few days but other than it not breathing, it looked totally normal and gorgeous. The woman was thanking all the sisters for her care!!! She delivered in a bay of 7, all the other women were having alive births and she had to watch and was left to deliver the baby until we came in and Rachel took over... The care over here is (excuse my French Grandparents) a f***ing disgrace in comparison, different world! So now, after a very horrendous morning! myself Rachel And Joy are in Fifi's (an lovely cafe filled with chocolate) munching on cake and a vanilla milkshake !
