Wow, so its been quite a while since i last posted and a lot has changed in a very short space of time! Where to begin? Ok so we had the polocrosse nationals at the farm, during that time Dust decided that he didn't want to try and make the relationship work as he was having far too much fun in the Caymens (like i told him but they never listen) so that was tough but I had a lot of work to keep myself busy and all the girls around to keep my spirits up! Nationals was so much fun, quite stressful and there were teams from all over oz but we had some really good nights out at the end of it all! After nationals i worked for a few more days, went out with the girls again and then had the weekend in Perth with Emma, we went out Fri and Sun nights and spent Sunday on Rottnest Island which has beautifull bays and beaches and would be perfect for snorkelling if the weather had been a bit warmer!
We set off on our road trip, oh and for those that dont know, Emma and I bought a car! A '93 Holden Commodore Apollo station wagon so we could sleep in the back if needed! Emma and Chris (her boyf) went to look at it and got it, seemed ok so I paid half of the AU$3000. It ran ok, looked nice and clean so we filled it full of food, bedding etc etc and set off to Wave Rock, about 350km east of Perth. The plan was to see it, head south and loop back up to Perth before heading north. I drove out to Wave rock no problems, we saw the rock, cooked our pasta on a free bbq (which they have everywhere here) and set up camp in the back of the car! was pretty fun, we played cards and then went to sleep. Woke up when the sun came up, packed up and set off south. About 90kms out of Albany, Em (driving) notices smoke coming out the bonnet and then the engine starts ticking so we pull over and open the bonnet up and the engine is practically cooking itself! Short story is the radiator is leaking somewhere and it lost all its water and burnt out. So we're in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal, luckily i've had enough breakdowns not to freak out so just flagged some cars down and crossed my fingers!
We hit the jackpot, 2 farmers in a ute! they worked out was wrong, tried to fix it, stayed with us while the engine was cooling and when they realised it was too far gone they towed us into albany! this is all in the middle of a thunderstorm to make it even more pleasant!! they took us to a friends company who fixes trucks where we dumped the car. This guy Glenn then offered us to stay with his family for the night because by this time it was quite late. His family were so welcoming, his wife was lovely and has helped us with so much, what to do with the car, buses back to perth, getting rid of some of our stuff etc etc. His kids were lovely, they had a shetland in the back garden and the whole family really looked after us!
So end of the story is, i'm sat in a hostel in Albany know, we have the day here tomorrow, to finish off sorting out the car and then we get the bus back to Perth on Fri. Matt, the boss has said he might be able to find me some work at the farm, if not i'll be heading over to Sydney and getting a job to get some money together before xmas and NYE.
All in all, its a bit of a bummer, money lost on the car, means we cant get where we planned to etc but at the end of the day i'm alive and well so its not too bad! things will pick up i'm sure and the girls will cheer me up when i get back to the farm so thats good, will feel like going home!
lots of love to everyone, miss you all more at times like this when things dont go to plan, but i'll stick it out and things will get better!
