Hi everyone!
Sunday was market day in St Kild. All the way along the Esplande were stalls and stalls of arts and crafts - it was a really good little market and we all came away with at lesat one purchase!
After the market we headed down to Fitzroy Street to a skate hire shop. Little did we know the street was hosting the Gay Pride March, there were tonnes of people and rainbow coloured accessories! Rose & Lydia hired skates and Hayley & Janine were chief photgraphers - it was so funny! Rose & Lydia both managed to not break any bones or crash into people (very hard when we forgot to ask how to stop!), a good achievement! By the time they took the skates back the march had started so we stayed and watched for a bit.
On Monday we took Lydia into the city. We hopped onto the free tourist shuttle to see all the main sights of Melbourne. We got off the bus at the Botanical Gardens to have some lunch - our best picnic spot yet! Then we jumped back on the bus to the centre to wander round the shops again. We visited our favourite cafe Red Nine again but they had no banana bread so we just had to make do with drinks.
In the evening we went to Neighbours Night in the city. We met Toadie, Elle & Carmella who were all very nice and chatty. We left soon after they did as it was so hot in the bar. We went to a cafe that was still open and had a hot chocolate brownie!
Tuesday was Neighbours tour day. We went on a tour of the street, complete with its own security guard to manage all the tourists who turn up! Its an actual street where people live, so the guard stops people taking souvenirs like Harrold's letterbox away with them. We took a few pictures of the street and then got back in the bus and had a tour of a few of the locations, like a corner shop, that they shoot scenes at. Unfortunately they were filming in the studio so we couldn't go round there.
Afterwards we went for pancakes, as it is Shrove Tuesday!
Tonight we're packing for our road trip along the Great Ocean Road and will probably next write from Adelaide at the end of our adventure.
Lots of love, Hayley & Rose xxx
