Hi everyone,
So ive been working for a week up the Aussie now, which is much better because it is a lot busier and has a younger clientel! Its very exciting as the finishing touches are being done ready for the big launch next weekend.
Last week was pretty hectic. Paul asked the other 2 girls to leave, god knows why, which left us very short staffed. Rose also was ill will a kidney infection so for 2 days i was the only backpacker working, needless to say i clocked up a lot of hours, managed 83 for the week. Two new girls arrived at the weekend, Cora who is Irish and Sophia who is from Sweden, so hopefully the hours should ease up a bit next week.
We had a big friday and saturday night with takings up over 1000 from last week, which is really good for the pub. Saturday was the beef, bells and beer festival in Miles. There was a big parade that went past the pub and down the main street on Saturday morning. There were lots of people lining the streets, obviously a big annual event in Miles.
After a long week, Paul gave Rose and I the day off on Monday. He let us borrow his car so we drove to Toowoomba, which is 2 and a half hours away and went shopping. With 800 dollars in my pocket, and having not been shopping for over a month, we both went a little mad! I had a MacDonalds and Rose had a Sunway for lunch! It was very refreshing to get out of Miles for the day, and a much needed break for the both of us.
The weather is definately warming up now and we have had wall to wall sunshine. One of the locals was telling me that in the next few weeks it will get up to 40oC here.
We have now booked our 3 week east coast trip, from Cairns down to Sydney which we are both looking forward too. Its the main backpacker route, hopefully we have left the best until last. Lydia is coming back to join us for the east coast which will be great. Very consious now that all to quickly it will all be over...so going to make sure we enjoy every moment we have left.
Love Hayley and Rose x
