25th April 2008 - 30th April 2008Getting to NZ:Ok it is Tuesday 30th April at 2.30am here in Christchurch. I'l start with the very beginning of the trip at Terminal 5 in London. Gorgeous airport, BA are brilliant. We went to the Giraffe Cafe and who did we see? Only Maxi Jazz the main guy from Faithless! Mike really wanted to get his pic taken but was too embarressed so I went straight up to him and asked him myself. Brilliant start to the holiday. Bought some Mac foundation and Mac nude lipstick and got the plane to London. Took 1.5 hours a bit much but we didnt care. Then we got the plane from Terminal 5 London to LA. An 11 hour journey. On the plane everything was free? I didnt know this free beer! Me and mike had a couple of cans and went to sleep for a bit. The plane was an hour late setting off so when we arrived in LA we missed our flight to Aukland! All staff in LA were HORRIBLE AND UN-HELPFUL. Horrible airport where no-one cares. So we were told by BA that instead of going Aukland to Christchurch we had to go OZ to Christchurch. So we got on the Plane to OZ! This was a 14 hour flight! Arrived in OZ and then got on a flight to Christchurch which was 3 hours 20 mins. Surprisingly me and Mike were okay and werent too tired!Christchurch:We arrived at the airport and our bags were not there! (they arrived at our hotel 2 days later) We got a taxi to our Hotel So in the centre, brand new hotel built for people on a budget who want a bit of luxury, great hotel, free internet, lounge, kitchen, fridge in room, blue lights under the bed to help with jetlag! Flat screen T.V with mood channels which help you sleep, me and mike keep putting the one on with the burning log fire and giggling! Power shower, phone etc. Great hotel $100 a night which is about £42, so only £20 each, AIRZY & AMY thanks for the NZ dollas we have used them to start our trip in this great hotel! Christchurch is beautiful, wide streets, very clean, river, cathedral, lots of internet cafe's, Its a bit like England but cleaner, friendlier, safer and classier. This is our second night here, but there must be near a karioki bar opposite as they are singing till 6.00 in the morning? This is prob why I am awake now I can hear, Sha, la, la, la la,la,la, la, - dum dum, Sha, la, la, la la,la,la, la sweet Marie who waits for me!We bought a car yesterday, Toyota Carolla 1993 white, saloon, 2 litre, manual from the Back Packers Cars in CC. It was up for $1800 slashed to $1500. They were leaving that day. So i got my haggling skills out and tried for $800 bit much but you've got to try! We eventually got it for $1000 which is approx £400! Bargain. Its in the garage now getting a new can belt for the season and anti freeze, we pick it up today. They machanic says that we could prob sell it for $1500 when we have finished so we practially have a free car for the next 4 -5 months. *Sweet* as they say over here! We bought insurance which isnt compulsary over here for $205 (approx £85) for both of us, and breakdown cover for $42 (£10) The weather here is Autumn so when we arrived it was a bit crisp but nice, yesterday though it was roasting, I had a little pink boobtube on with jeans and got a bit of a tan! We had breakfast in the hotel the first morning which was GORGEUS, the food over here is so nice, premium stuff mmmmmm! So far we are really enjoying our trip exploring on foot in Christchurch having a laugh together both in really good moods. (Had a KFC yesterday and they have potato gravy?) Mike woke up yesterday asking where the others are, I'm like MIKE we are here on our own, Wait for the others, where are they? he was saying, We are both saying weired things because we are jetlagged when we wake up!Laters!!!Hayley and Mike x
