Mui Ne - is a coastal resort town in southeastern Vietnam. Tourism has transformed Mui Ne into a resort destination since 1995, when many visited to view the total solar eclipse of October 24, 1995. Mui Ne has many resorts on the beach, as well as restaurants, bars and cafes. Mui Ne is a popular destination for Russian tourists, and many of the restaurants and resorts are Russian-owned. Mui Ne Beach is a popular tropical beach. Strong sea breezes make it very popular for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The tourist season is from December to May. The average temperature is 27°C, and the climate is hot and dry for most of the year.
We arrived in Mui Ne on Wednesday 16th, it was a 6 hour bus from Nha Trang which ended up being another sleeper bus - this time we were on the top - I was in the middle and it really wasn't very comfy! Everythime the bus turned a corner it felt like I was gonna fall out!
Not much to report on our time in Mui Ne. We pretty much ate, drank, slept and sunbathed! It was so hot when we arrived, a real change in climate! We stayed in a lovely little hotel with a very friendly Australian owner (who got everyone together one night to all go out for dinner - and our meal was paid for by his American friends!) We spent the days lazing - some time was spent sunbathing but the sun was so hot a few hours on the beach was enough - even the sea wasn't very refreshing as it was so warm!
We did a tour one day where 6 of us went in an old USA jeep. We visited the Fairy Stream - a little river that winds its way through bamboo forests, boulders and the dunes behind the village, in parts resembling a miniature version of the Grand Canyon. As soon as we started walking here we were accompanied by some local kids - trying to be our guide! We had already decided to give them a small tip - when the young lad then asked Joe for money - Joe gave him some (maybe about £1) and was told no that's too small!! (Cheeky little sh*t) needless to say he didn't get any more! Just up the road was the fishing harbour - it was a lovely view of hundreds of colourful fishing boats moored in the bay.
Next stop was the white sand-dunes where we could hire a quad bike (we didn't as we didn't have enough money with us and the price was a rip off!) We sat beside a lake waiting for the rest of our group. We then drove to the red sand-dunes where we were going to watch the sunset but just as we reached the top the clouds came and covered the sun!
We had a lovely 3 nights in Mui Ne - nice and relaxed before hitting another crazy city!...
